Talk Title: <\/strong>Lattices, Learning with Errors and Statistical Problems<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brief Bio:  <\/strong>Vinod Vaikuntanathan is a professor of computer science at MIT and the chief cryptographer at Duality Technologies. His research is in the foundations of cryptography and its applications to theoretical computer science at large. He is known for his work on fully homomorphic encryption, a powerful cryptographic primitive that enables complex computations on encrypted data, as well as lattice-based cryptography, which lays down a new mathematical foundation for cryptography in the post-quantum world. His work has been recognized with the Simons Investigator Award (2023), the G\u00f6del Prize (2022), the MIT Harold E. Edgerton Faculty Award (2018) and the Sloan faculty fellowship (2013). He holds SM and PhD degrees from MIT and a BTech degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Talk Title: <\/strong>No bad time for cache attacks<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brief Bio:\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0Yuval Yarom is a professor at Ruhr University Bochum, where he leads the Chair for Computer Security. He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Adelaide in 2014, and an M.Sc. in Computer Science and a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 1993 and 1990, respectively. In between he has been the Vice President of Research in Memco Software and a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Girafa.com. Yuval’s research explores the security of the interface between the software and the hardware. In particular, he is interested in the discrepancy between the way that programmers think about software execution and the concrete execution in modern processors. He works on identifying micro-architectural vulnerabilities, and on exploitation and mitigation techniques.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
